Global Semiconductor Market records exceptional growth in Q2 2026

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization has released Q2 statistical data and confirmed the WSTS Spring forecast for the global semiconductor market through 2029.

Statistic: The semiconductor market more than doubled in the first half of 2026

The global semiconductor market reached 702 billion US dollars in the first half of 2026, representing a 102 percent increase year-over-year. The industry continued its exceptional expansion, driven by sustained investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, high-performance computing and advanced memory technologies.

Product segment performance was led by Memory, which expanded an exceptional 305 percent year-over-year. Logic also recorded outstanding growth of 45 percent. The remaining product categories also recorded positive year-over-year growth, demonstrating continued strength across a broad range of semiconductor applications.

Outlook: Spring forecasts nearly confirmed, estimates based on actual Q2 results are slightly stronger

Looking ahead, the WSTS Spring 2026 forecast has been largely confirmed by the results from the first half of the year. Based on the incorporation of actual Q2 data, the calculation for the full-year 2026 market reaches 1,655 billion US dollars, corresponding to annual growth of approximately 108 percent, 18 percentage points above the original Spring estimate. The calculation for 2027 reaches approximately 2.1 trillion US dollars, corresponding to annual growth of approximately 29 percent.

WSTS Q2 results - July 2026

For 2026, calculations for all product segments become slightly higher, except Sensors. The key growth driver, Memory, is now expected to grow by 302 percent (53 percentage points higher than the original estimate), reflecting stronger-than-expected performance in the first half of the year.

Regionally, all major markets are expected to expand, with the Americas and Asia Pacific continuing to lead the growth.

The figures in this release are based on the WSTS Spring 2026 Forecast, with Q2 2026 data replaced by actual results. Growth rates for Q3 2026 and beyond follow the same assumptions as the original June forecast. Please note that these are not new forecast values generated by WSTS under a revised scenario.
