Committee Meeting Participants
Each WSTS Member Company has one official representative in the Committee, who is expected to participate in the Committee Meeting (Business Meeting) and to assume his/her voting rights in the Business Meeting on Tuesday morning. Any other employee of a WSTS Member Company is invited to participate in all parts of the Committee Meeting (Business Meeting and Forecast Meeting). Participation in the Forecast Meeting is subject to the submission of a premeeting forecast. Furthermore the representatives of the sponsoring Semiconductor Industry Associations are invited to participate as observers. During your registration you will be required to declare in which role you will attend the meeting. Certain detailed information such as the agenda, the list of participants etc. is only accessible to holders of WSTS user accounts and/or to registered participants. If you have registered but do not have a WSTS user account, you may login to this meeting web site (right upper corner) with your registration ID as user name and your last name as password.
Any non-member semiconductor company who has serious interest to join WSTS may send a participant to the Committee Meeting as observer. Such request is to be made to the WSTS Administrator.
Travel and Transfer
Most participants from abroad will travel by air and arrive at Kansai International Airport (KIX). Transfer to the hotel will take 90 to 120 minutes depending on traffic and type of ground transportation. Participants arriving from within Japan or with a stopover in another Japanese airport may as well choose Osaka Itami airport for their arrival. Transfer from this airport to the hotel is a bit more than one hour.
Kansai International Airport has direct flights from all major hubs in USA, Europe and Asia.
For ground transportation from Kansai International Airport, there are several options:
- Japan Railways Limited Express Train "Haruka". Departing directly from the terminal building complex every 30 minutes, fare ¥3690. Credit cards accepted. Arrives at Kyoto station after a travel time of 75 minutes. From there take a taxi for a short ride to the hotel (¥630). Alternatively you may use bus line 9 or 28, 4 stops. Fare is ¥220.
- Airport Limousine Bus departing in front of the terminal building on the international arrivals level, bus stop 8. Frequency approximately every 40 minutes, travel time to Kyoto station 95 to 105 minutes. Return ticket ¥3800, sold at ticket counter in the arrival hall. Credit cards accepted. From Kyoto station take a taxi to the hotel (¥630). Alternatively you may use bus line 9 or 28, 4 stops. Fare is ¥220.
- MK Skygate Shuttle is a collective shuttle service. Fare is ¥3500 per person from the airport to the hotel. One piece of luggage and hand luggage is free. Each additional piece of luggage costs ¥1000. The service needs to be booked at least 2 days ahead through the website of the taxi company. This site contains also all relevant information regarding pick-up point and transportation terms. While this option is convenient for travellers with heavy luggage, it may take up to three hours tranfer time as the minibus may have to wait for other arriving passengers and it may drop off other passengers at other hotels before arriving at your hotel.
From Osaka Itami airport a limousine bus is available to Kyoto station, operating every 20 minutes. Transfer time to Kyoto station is 55 minutes. Fare is ¥1280 one way. MK Skygate Shuttle operates from Itami airport, too. See 3. above for details.

Practical Hints
Electricity in Japan is 100V 60Hz AC. Connectors are US standard but mostly without eart pin.
Only 3G mobile phones (UMTS) from abroad will work, but roaming fees are quite excessive. Also international calls from the hotel room are quite pricy. Calling cards are the most economic alternative to call your home country. As the Internet access from rooms is by wired LAN you should have a LAN cable with you (RJ45).
You will see many ATMs in Japan but not all accept international debit or credit cards. Look for the logos on the ATM (Maestro, Cirrus etc.). Those machines have also user guidance in English. Some ATMs reject international cards outside of bank office hours. At Kansai International Airport you have a good opportunity to withdraw cash from ATMs. Moreover all ATMs at post offices work with international cards. As credit cards are not as widely accepted as in other countries, you should carry a reasonable amount of Yen cash with you for train tickets, taxis, shopping, restaurants etc.
Dress code for business events in Japan tends to be more formal than in some other countries. It is therefore appropriate, though not mandatory, to wear jacket and ties throughout the entire conference program. For the tour and dinner on Friday casual attire is appropriate.
